Frugal Travel Series

If there’s one thing I love as much as saving money, it’s traveling! My parents love to travel and instilled the love in us at young age. I love it so much that I chose to major in it in college and makeSuitcase Stuffed with Money it my profession — well I don’t actually get paid to travel — but I do get paid to help other people travel!

Being a frugal person, travel lover and working in the travel industry for almost 10 years I’ve learned a few ways to cut costs. I’ll be sharing those with you over the next few weeks as part of my Frugal Travel Series.

The first tip I have to share is to set a budget! Knowing how much you can realistically spend is the first step in planning a frugal vacation. This will help you make important decisions on the destination you choose, the type of lodging, food, attractions, etc. The biggest mistake you can make is not setting one up and ending up having to charge the whole vacation or dip farther into savings than you planned.

The first part in my series will focus on how to choose a destination. Other topics I will be covering include lodging, attractions, food and airfare. If you have any specific topics you’d like to see covered leave a comment below or send me an email.
